OUR VOTE. OUR VOICE. OUR DEMOCRACY - Ensure fair and transparent elections in Zambia 2026
The issue
OUR VOTE IS OUR VOICE. OUR VOTE IS OUR POWER. OUR DEMOCRACY MUST BE PROTECTED.
We are deeply concerned about reports and allegations of electoral irregularities, intimidation, abductions, killings, political violence, forced displacement, citizens living in exile because they fear for their safety, interference with the electoral process, and other conduct that may undermine the integrity of our democracy.
We cannot stand silently while the people of Zambia feel that their votes and their democratic rights are being taken away from them in broad daylight.
We demand that every legitimate vote be respected, counted, verified and transparently accounted for.
- We are not asking for favours.
- We are asking for justice.
- We are asking for transparency.
- We are asking for accountability.
- We are asking for democracy.
WE SAY ENOUGH.
We do not want a Zambia defined by:
• Abductions and disappearances of citizens, activists or political opponents.
• Killings and political violence that leave families grieving and communities living in fear.
• Intimidation, threats and harassment of citizens exercising their democratic rights.
• Zambians being forced to live in exile because they fear for their safety or freedom.
• Military intimidation or the fear of military intervention in political affairs.
• Tribalism, regionalism and deliberate division of our people.
• Poverty and economic hardship continuing to destroy the hopes of ordinary Zambians.
• Political bias and institutions that appear unwilling or unable to act independently.
• The silencing of citizens who peacefully question the electoral process.
• The normalisation of electoral irregularities and the disappearance of accountability.
• Leaders placing political power above the will of the people.
• A democracy that exists only on paper while citizens feel their voices are ignored.
WE DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY
We call for credible, independent and transparent investigations into all allegations of abductions, killings, disappearances, political violence, intimidation and unlawful persecution, regardless of the political affiliation or status of those involved.
No family should have to live without answers.
No citizen should have to flee their homeland because they fear persecution.
No Zambian should have to choose between their political beliefs and their safety.
TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
We appeal to SADC, the African Union, the Commonwealth, the United Nations and the international democratic community:
Please hear the cry of the Zambian people.
Do not wait until peaceful citizens are pushed beyond their limits.
We ask for peaceful observation, independent scrutiny, investigation of credible allegations, diplomatic engagement and support for human rights and electoral justice.
We do not want chaos.
We do not want violence.
We want our democracy protected through peaceful and lawful means.
TO OUR FELLOW ZAMBIANS
This is not about tribe.
This is not about region.
This is not about political hatred.
This is about Zambia. 🇿🇲
Today it may be someone else's vote.
Tomorrow it could be yours.
Today it may be someone else's family facing intimidation, violence or displacement.
Tomorrow it could be yours.
If we allow the integrity of elections, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms to be destroyed, we risk leaving our children with a country where their voices no longer matter.
Let us stand together — peacefully, courageously and lawfully.
Let us document.
Let us speak.
Let us demand transparency.
Let us demand justice.
Let us defend the right of every Zambian to live safely, speak freely and choose their leaders without fear.
OUR MESSAGE IS SIMPLE:
OUR VOTE.
OUR VOICE.
OUR DEMOCRACY.
NO MORE FEAR.
NO MORE SILENCING.
NO MORE POLITICAL VIOLENCE.
NO MORE TAKING AWAY THE PEOPLE'S VOICE.
DO NOT STEAL OUR FUTURE. 🇿🇲
We call upon every Zambian, wherever they are in the world, to stand peacefully for electoral integrity, justice, accountability, human rights and the democratic future of Mother Zambia.
ZAMBIA BELONGS TO ALL OF US. 🇿🇲
