DHS and CBP have surged additional agents into the Chicago area, and reports show federal activity increasing again across northern Illinois, including the North Suburbs today. While federal agencies have remained present, the scale and visibility of activity appears to have intensified over the past two days. This is exactly why local action matters. Our petition calls for clear local rules so village and city property is not used for federal civil immigration enforcement operations. When local governments set boundaries, it reduces confusion, fear, and misuse of community spaces. If you signed this petition and do not live in Kankakee County, I encourage you to take this momentum home. Organize locally. Ask your village board or city council to pass an ordinance or resolution clarifying that local property is not available for federal staging or enforcement. What’s happening here is not isolated.
