The Issue

Did you ask to have AI search forced onto your search engine?

The answer, quite simply, is no. It just appeared one day on your screen, uninvited, without your consent, and without a straightforward way to say "thanks, but no thanks." We should have the fundamental right and choice to turn it off.  It is driving massive amounts of data through data centres and creating a false demand. The rising number of data centres globally is causing immeasurable damage to our communities and the natural environments that we cherish.

Let’s be fundamentally clear about what is happening here: Big Tech is treating the public like passive test subjects in their own digital lives. Millions of people open their browsers every single day just to look up a local bus time or check a simple recipe, only to have intrusive, auto-generated AI overviews shoved directly into their workflow.

When you buy a laptop or a phone, you own it. Silicon Valley boardrooms do not get to dictate how you use your own property, nor should they be allowed to inflate their traffic metrics off the back of your accidental clicks. This isn't innovation, it is corporate overreach, and it is time we stood up for consumer autonomy.

We are launching this campaign to demand tech companies and regulatory bodies give users real control through a universal AI Kill Switch:

A One-Click System Toggle: A clear, native setting across iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS that completely disables generative AI features, sidebars, and background processing across the board.

Clean, Classic Search Defaults: A simple, permanent opt-out in Google, Bing, and major browsers to restore traditional keyword-and-link search; no clutter, no forced summaries, no extra fuss.

Removable User Interface & Hardware Control: The right to disable AI buttons and intrusive search prompts that drain battery life and clutter our screens.

Technology should serve the individual, not force unwanted features down our throats. It is time to take back control of our devices, stand up for user choice, and sign the petition today.
