Dear Changemakers,
We hope this message finds you well, especially those of you on the island who have been impacted by Beryl. We understand the immense challenges you've faced during this difficult time—the trauma of natural disaster is serious: the upheaval, and the heartbreaking experience of witnessing the suffering of friends, neighbours, and family members.
Imagine this: many of the developers who have destroyed some of Grenada's natural defences against these weather systems, are in the safety and comfort of their own homes, unaffected by recent events.
Moving Ahead In Solidarity
We want to continue to provide updates for those who signed this petition. Mostly, we’ll send out info about the ongoing efforts of the Grenada Land Actors (GLA) and how you can continue to support us. Unfortunately, CHANGE.org no longer allows us to access the emails of petition signers. This is a significant setback for us as a grassroots organization, as we rely on this community to spread the word, share developments, and amplify our calls to action—from your homes to the ears of those in power. And so we ask that you urgently follow the link and sign up for our mailing list.
Now, more than ever, we need your solidarity to protect what remains of Grenada's natural habitats and rare ecosystems. Beryl marked a frightening turning point, as our small island joins the growing list of nations vulnerable to the climate crisis and the harmful effects of overdevelopment.
Storms like Beryl are likely to become more frequent as ocean temperatures rise. Even more concerning is the ongoing destruction of our natural defences against flooding and erosion, such as our mangroves, which continue to be threatened by foreign-backed developments that show little regard for the impact on local communities and economies. More and more proposals that threaten Grenada’s natural resources are in the queue for approval. We are at a critical turning point with the only solution being our voices.
Thank you for joining us in our fight to save Grenada and we look forward to continuing this partnership with you.
We will continue to share updates on this platform, including recent publications, court case developments, and ways you can join us in strengthening our public outreach efforts. In the coming months, we will also be fundraising to support GLA's mandates—a challenging task without adequate funding. Our dedicated team of volunteer board members and communications officers is already working tirelessly, and we are committed to growing more impactful campaigns, creating informative content, and supporting the legal actions necessary to change policies that protect the lives and homes of current and future generations.
We deeply appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to working together on this vital cause: saving our home, conserving our future, and protecting our heritage.
