Our Homes. Our Health. Our Water. Stop the Inverness Industrial Data Center.
The Issue
To the Residents of Lone Tree, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, DTC, and Parker: Global giants like American Tower (CoreSite) and DigitalBridge (DataBank) are exploiting our zoning loopholes and getting ready to build a massive data center campus in our back yard.
American tower is quietly building a highly Toxic Industrial Data Center Campus in our backyard and we need a moratorium NOW to stop them.
Denver’s new ban on Data Centers has turned South Metro into a hot zone for highly polluting data centers. Denver has banned data centers; it's time for us to do the same.
The Inverness "Adaptive Reuse" Data Center Cluster is actively retrofitting right now.
THE REALITY OF THE INVERNESS DATA CAMPUS:
1. Our Air: These facilities house hundreds of massive diesel backup generators. Data Center "server factories" test the engines constantly, releasing fine particulate matter (PM2.5), PFAS, and nitrogen oxides, gases and a variety of toxic chemicals.
State and City Wide Warning: In areas with high data center density, we are seeing emerging Cancer Clusters, asthma, respiratory, and cardiac events. We are already a High-Ozone city.
2. Our Water: Drought & Contamination A single "retrofitted" data center can consume 1 million gallons of water PER DAY.
The Supply Collapse: They are pulling directly from our municipal water supply. While we face watering restrictions, these campuses are consuming the water of 10,000 households.
Brown Water Alerts: Data center cooling involves PFAS ("Forever Chemicals"). March 2026 saw a $20M cancer settlement for groundwater contamination in Washington from this exact type of data center. Currently, 45,000 people are drinking bottled water. We are risking our drinking water for a facility that provides zero local jobs.
3. Our Home Values: 20% Equity Loss Data shows that residential properties within a 10-mile radius of these massive industrial campuses see an average 20% depreciation. Who wants to buy a home in a "hum zone"?
Between the 24/7 infrasound (low-frequency noise that causes vertigo and nausea) and the massive new transmission lines, our suburban equity is being sacrificed for tech-giant profits.
4. Our Grid: Surging Energy Costs These campuses draw enough power to fuel 50,000 homes. This destabilizes our shared electrical substations. We will see "Demand Surcharges" on your Xcel bill to subsidize the massive power draw required to cool AI servers.
OUR EMERGENCY DEMANDS:
We demand that the Mayors and City Councils of Lone Tree, Centennial, Greenwood Village, and Douglas County act as a United South Metro Alliance:
Enact an Immediate 12-Month Moratorium: All "Stealth" warehouse and office retrofits in Inverness must stop today.
A Total Ban on Municipal Water for Cooling: No potable water shall be used for industrial data cooling.
Mandatory Health & Infrasound Impact Studies: No "Use-By-Right" permits. Any facility must prove it will not emit toxic particulates or low-frequency sound into residential zones.
Denver banned them. Now they are coming for us. We have the right to our water, our air, and our homes.
