Our Coastal and Marine environments are significantly impacted from Combustion

Our Coastal and Marine environments are significantly impacted from Combustion
The issue
Dear Australian Government,
Our coastal and Marine environments are constantly struggling from Combustion which is the process of burning fossil fuels. In order to preserve some of the worlds most beautiful coastal landscapes including our local Great Ocean Road we must urgently take action on combustion and find some alternate ways to produce energy and power. Finding alternatives to fossil fuels is essential if the world is to combat global warming and sea levels rising. The current reliance on fossil fuels led by coal, oil and gas is used to supply 80% of the world’s energy. By choosing renewable energy, nuclear power, hydrogen, biomass, and geothermal energy we could all together try and put an end to this!
The process of Combustion is when the water warms causing the water to expand and rise which results is erosion, flooding, and loss of habitat in coastal areas. Increased water levels will result in Coastal habitats being flooded, but beyond this it will reflect on climate change.
“Only by reducing dependency on fossil fuels can we mitigate these huge issues.” This is a global issue but there are many things everyone can do in their daily lives that with help make a positive change. Some examples of this are using LED light bulbs, ensuring that lights and your television gets turned off whenever you leave the house, using appliances with star energy, reduce products that require fossil fuels to produce (like plastic bags), try use as little plastic as possible, purchase goods that are manufactured with recycled materials, reuse reduce and recycle, take public transportation as often as possible to reduce greenhouse gases, invest in electric cars and invest in solar panels to power your house with solar energy. These very simply actions may seem like nothing but if everyone (7.9 billion people) starts to do these simple actions we can together raise our voices and stop combustion or at the least slow the production of burning fossil fuels.
By signing this petition, I hope you know how much of an impact you can actually make to this global combustion crisis. The more people to sign this petition the greater understanding everyone will have on the immense impact our environment is having from these selfish human actions. Which is particularly affecting our coastal and marine environments. If you love our coastlines, you must protect them. It is critical that we all take some action and do our part in protecting our incredible planet.
