Guns are not Americas issue. Mental health is. And until that is recognized, there will never be a solution. Guns can be banned, but if someone wants a weapon to use for mass destruction. They will find one. That is the inevitable, in the world that we live in today. And WHO is suffering the consequences of nothing being done? Our CHILDREN are. Our teachers and Police are not and still are not prepared. There should not be reoccurring errors when it comes to children.

Where are the solutions for ALL the mass school shootings that have occurred since Columbine in 1999? Since Columbine there have been a total of 230, now 231 since the recent tragic mass shooting that occurred in Uvalde, Tx just a short few weeks ago. Nine-teen beautiful souls were taken from their families and futures. While their brave teachers used themselves as human shields to help save their students’ lives. THIS IS NOT OKAY!! As a mother I feel like I need to at least TRY and make a CHANGE. Someone must speak up for the CHILDREN who do not have a voice. In our nation, our president is continuously surrounded by at least four of the White House Police Force. The White House Police Force – was placed under the administration of the Secret Service. This which PERMANTENTLY authorized Secret Service PROTECTION of the president, his immediate family, the president- elect and the vice president. Members of the secret service are put on top of the White House with specialty-built weapons and other sophisticated equipment for constant PROTECTION. Two Marine Corps Sentries guard the entrance to the West Wing of the White House. And an ARMED young adult can WALK into a SCHOOL building, where our CHILDREN are SITTING DUCKS and start shooting at them!?!? WHY? Why, does this keep happening? Celebrities, politicians and now CEOs of executive- level officials are being PROTECTED by ARMED bodyguards. And our CHILDREN have been left in the dust. Thoughts and prayers, but no change, no resolution, other than “TAKE THE GUNS”.

There are several solutions that could be put into place to start the journey to safer schools. I believe that our CHILDREN  need our VETERANS and our VETERANS need our CHILDREN. In October 2021, there were 18.0 million veterans in the United States. There are 1,435,787 United State Veterans in Texas, alone. I know that there are men and woman who would gladly sign up to help protect our CHILDREN. Soldiers are specially trained to PROTECT. After their service, their training is set up on the shelf. Why not put that training to use for long term? I propose in having ARMED and TRAINED Veterans guarding the doors of the schools. Having soldiers patrolling the courtyards, football fields and lunchrooms. Re-tired police and military bomb and artillery dogs can also be used to help protect our CHILDREN. Hideaways should also be included in classrooms for the CHILDREN and teachers to be able to get into quickly and efficiently. Conjoining rooms to allow classes to come together into one armored cubical. I believe that teachers should be trained thoroughly with the objective of feeling confident in the role of taking control of the situation if it occurs. I do not believe that the school staff should be forced to open and carry a firearm. But I do believe that if a staff member feels the need to open carry with the correct training, they should be allowed to. Front office staff, aids, cafeteria workers, the janitors, and any other worker on campus. Security panels should be placed in each individual room to confirm safety of the students and allow the teacher to be able to alert if an intruder is WALKING THE HALLS of the school hunting down CHILDREN to slaughter!! Enough is enough! Tear gas lines should be installed in the hallways to blind side the intruder.

There are many RESOURCES that can be used if there was someone who would step up and start putting these plans into action.  Every time that this subject is brought up, any time ANOTHER school shooting occurs the SAME thing is ALWAYS said, MONEY! Money is the main concern when it comes to providing adequate safety for our CHILDREN and teachers. This excuse should no longer be tolerated as an answer. 90 million dollars is spent YEARLY for the standardized STARR tests that students are made to take each year. Teachers can no longer teach their students the fun side of learning new things. It is a tedious road to teaching the students how to pass this test. Yet, excuses are made every single day concerning the safety of our CHILDREN. What good is a test if the CHILDREN are DEAD?

Our FUTURE is in the hands of these little people. They are our next President, law enforcement, educators, electricians, and World leaders.
