Protect Our Students!

The Issue

May 24, 2022 a day that has changed The City of Uvalde forever, a day that we will never forget! An 18 year old gunman entered the west side of Robb Elementary School with an assault style rifle and massacred 19 children and 2 teachers. So many families have forever been destroyed because of this senseless act of violence.

How could this happen? Why did this happen? What can we do to prevent anymore innocent and defenseless children from falling victim to gun violence. So many questions are being raised. Some questions will never have an answer!

I want to stress the importance of letting the families mourn and begin the healing process for right now! For the rest of us it’s time to stand up for our communities, our families, our children and those that do not have a voice!

We elect our public officials to represent us and as of right now we are not being properly represented! Less than a week after this senseless tragedy struck Uvalde the NRA had a convention in Houston, Tx where they did not recommend any type of gun reform or even the slightest bit of change to our current gun laws. They stood their and blamed evil people with mental health issues! Which I do believe is part of the problem but there’s more to it than it just being a mental health issue. This is a huge problem on so many different fronts. How can an 18 year old go buy an assault style weapon with as much ammo as available but not buy a pack of smokes in the State of Texas? That is just insane! How do we not have universal background checks? There’s so much we can change to provide a safer future for our children!

As a father who has school aged children I ask you to stand with me so the politicians can see that we demand a better and safer future for our children! Let’s give them a chance to make things right and if not them then it’s on us to get somebody in office that will better represent our families! Governor Greg Abbott, Lt Governor Dan Patrick, AG Ken Paxton, US Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.  For Uvalde, Texas US Representative Tony Gonzales, Senator Roland Gutierrez and Texas House Representative Tracy King. Let’s at least start with Universal Background Checks, most Americans agree that we need those! WE NEED CHANGE!
