The Issue

The students and staff of Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus, are calling for immediate action to address the ongoing disruptions caused by high school students from Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School, who regularly congregate on our campus, particularly in shared spaces such as the Tim Hortons.

Their behaviour is consistently disruptive, aggressively loud, and entirely inappropriate for an academic environment. These students are not enrolled in our college, yet they interfere daily with our ability to study, work, and enjoy the facilities we pay for.

We demand that Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus security implement clear measures to protect our campus spaces, including:

Access Control: Ensure that shared facilities are reserved for enrolled college students and staff, with ID-based access if necessary.

Security Enforcement: Empower security staff to prevent loitering and remove non-enrolled individuals who cause disruptions.

Collaboration with the High School: Work directly with the high school administration to ensure their students understand and respect the boundaries of our campus.

Awareness & Accountability: Post clear signage and communicate to both communities that these facilities are intended for college use only.

Our campus should be a safe, respectful environment for learning — not a hangout spot for high school students. We urge Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus to act now to restore order and protect the rights of the students and staff who belong here.

By signing this petition, you join us in demanding action to ensure that Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus remains a space for its students and staff, free from ongoing disruption.
