On 8/11/15 Ottumwa Animal Control posted a 5 month old puppy who was found in Ottumwa. On 8/18/15 Ottumwa Animal Control planned to euthanize the dog. 7 days after the dog was brought in by Animal Control. Hope Animal Rescue in Grimes, Iowa was forced to pay a $89 "bail out" fee to bring the dog to their shelter. This is not the first time Hope Animal Rescue has had to pay $89 to rescue animals from Ottumwa Animal Control. This is the norm for Ottumwa. This needs to stop! If a shelter is willing to provide a shelter and vet care for an animal planned to be euthanized then they should not be charged a fee by Ottumwa Animal Control.
