For years my parents and myself had to fight with the School District to get accommodations for my education because of my disabilities  I required extra time on tests extra assignment time and other things to help my education be accessible. The school and many educators did not want to give me accommodations (and when I had my IEP did not want to follow said accommodations) for reasons I don’t understand. It was a battle for years my parents had to pay out of pocket for an attorney that defended me and helped me to get these accommodations finally. However Not everybody can afford to pay for an attorney for their children to get accommodations and sometimes schools refuse to hold teachers administrators and the district as a whole accountable when this happens. I am making this petition after I’ve graduated from the district to make education more accessible and inclusive for disabled people for generations to come and right now. Not everyone can afford to have an attorney to get these accommodations whatever they may be, and nobody should have to go as far as to hire an attorney to get quality accessible education for their children and their selves. I am hoping that with this petition and some signatures we can make education for disabled students more enjoyable less stressful and more accessible.

My intent with this petition is to stop schools teachers Teaching Assistant’s and admins from getting away with not following and IEP or 504 of a student and not allow them to get away with discriminating against a student who has accommodations and to have an investigation about the wrongdoing by the school when the action a specific disregard,bigotry, or a any discrimination takes place against a student is made by not following an IEP plan a 504 plan or something else pertaining to, hate speech/bullying or direct verbal or cyber attacks against the student when by refusing/not following the IEP or 504 plan.This would help make school more accessible/inclusive and help aid in helping to stop discrimination against students as well as help maintain a good quality education. For everyone.Students should never have to prove their disability to such a drastic extent nor should they be denied accommodations based on that.Hopefully this helps make education better for the incoming and future and current students of our District.

Please note: In no way am I attempting to or condoning anybody to verbally (in person) or on the internet (cyber) intending to bring specific blame to one person or school in the district I am simply mentioning the district I went to and my personal struggles with gaining accommodations for my disability. I do not intend to work against or in spite of anyone I only want to make education better for current incoming and future students of the district I don’t want to work against the district I want to work with them starting with my petition to get their attention. I’m starting this petition in my school district to help people in my community firstly with hopes it will catch on in other districts and they will follow suit.  This petition is not to attack or harass anyone. That is not my intent. Please be kind to the District,District Employee’s, District Students and to others when signing sharing or talking about my petition. I do not condone anything negative, hateful, or spiteful said to anyone regarding this petition nor do I want anyone to say anything rude to anybody at any point in time regarding this.
