Dr. Angela Bryant should be fully reinstated to her position at The Ohio State University. 

In November of 2020, Dr. Angela Bryant was in the midst of a mental health crisis and sent an uncharacteristic email announcing her intent to leave her tenured position in Sociology at The Ohio State University Newark.  Administrators, with whom she had otherwise years of productive and respectful working relationships, treated this as an official resignation, and processed her abrupt departure from the University.  Shortly after sending this email, Dr. Bryant was involuntarily hospitalized and received medical treatment that stabilized her mental state to the point that she could see that what she had done did not reflect her true wishes. Before the final date of employment set by OSU administrators, she emailed to rescind her earlier message, but they refused to honor her desire to remain with the University despite her 13 years of outstanding service to the institution.

Dr. Bryant is a valued member of the OSU community.  She is a highly sought after teacher.  She is a champion for DEIJ on campus and in the community.  She is an active researcher.  She is a beloved mentor.
