OSCEOLA COUNTY: Repeal the hoodie ban!

The Issue

The Osceola County school district recently revised their county-wide student dress code policy to prohibit the wearing of all zipperless hoodies (excluding school-distributed hoodies.) We believe this policy accomplishes nothing, and makes student's lives worse. Many students with self-esteem issues may wear a pull-over hoodie to obscure their body shape, making them more comfortable in a public setting. Students may also wear a hoodie as a form of expression, when most other apparel-based expression had already been banned. Students may even just wear a hoodie for comfort, allowing them to relax more while completing their classwork. Regardless of the reason, this ban accomplishes nothing, and our goal is to get it repealed.
