Rosie Mowat started this petition to Orkney Islands Council

After 21 years run by the current owners and some years prior, Peedie Breeks nursery and after school care is due to close July 2020 due to the lease on the old Papdale Halls ending and no viable alternative being available.

Orkney Island Council have given an early indication that it is most likely that 3-5 year olds will be catered for in existing nurseries attached to schools due to extended free childcare hours provided by the Government, although it is unclear on how the schools will be able to take on the number of children that Peedie Breeks currently cares for.

Provision for children aged 0-3 and future childcare provision for would-be parents as well as after school care provision is a huge concern to many parents. Many single parent families or households with two working parents could have no childcare since there are very limited alternatives within Orkney.  This will undoubtedly impact the local workforce whose children currently attend the nursery as well as those staff currently working at Peedie Breeks who care for our children in such a fantastic way.

Please show your support for PB staff, parents and future parents by signing this petition to encourage authorities to find a solution that will allow Peedie Breeks to remain open.
