Hello again, This petition with your signatures/comments/voices urged that the City Council “immediately commence development of a plan to restore Orinda’s downtown area.” In response, the City Council (4-1 vote) retained (1) the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to create a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) that would recommend steps on how to renew our downtown areas and (2) National Main Street America (NMSA) to study Orinda’s retail market and recommend a marketing strategy. Now the ULI TAP will present its report to a joint meeting of the City Council and Planning Commission at 5 pm, Tuesday, April 11, in the Library Auditorium. Based on direction from Council on October 18 and November 15, 2016, the application to ULI for the TAP asked the panelists to consider the following questions: - Based on the TAP interviews, what is the collective vision for downtown Orinda? - Provide a draft mission statement for downtown. Based on the community's vision for downtown Orinda, what changes, if any, are recommended to downtown-development standards and allowable land uses? - Based on the community's vision for downtown Orinda, what streetscape-design concepts, if any, are recommended? - Based on the community's vision for downtown Orinda, what are the restoration and planning recommendations, if any, for San Pablo Creek? Please attend to further demonstrate that petitioners want a development plan for downtown! The full agenda can be found here: http://bit.ly/2olrrWL
