Organisations need to provide alternative methods of contact
Why this petition matters
The most common reason I have to as for help is because an organisation only provides contact by phone or when registering online or apply online the phone number is not optional. I am aware the other people cannot use phone. I believe other people would benefit from alternate method of contact being provided. The reasons for not being able to use the phone would vary from person to person. This is not a learning issue either as many people think. I am autistic and struggle with things that are unpredictable or require long waiting time. I take longer time to process information
The common things that would cause me difficulty include
Deal with wrong number
Automated systems
Answering machines / leaving messages
Calls being recorded caused anxiety
Expectation of quick responses caused anxiety
Waiting causes anxiety, rumination and catastrophizing
I also don’t cope well with interruptions
Sales calls
Scams
Calls from people I don’t know
I don’t believe I am the only person that would benefit from alternate method of contact. The reasons for not being able to use the phone would vary from person to person. I am also aware that other people have difficulty because sometime there is no alternate to doing things online
Although I cannot use the phone I can use other forms of communication. These include email, video calls (zoom), face to face and letters.

Alternative methods of contact to suit persons needs
If I can get enough signatures I would send petition to any organisation that does not provide alternative methods or contact does not make providing a phone number optional
