15% of state cannabis taxes are currently allocated to the Oregon State Police. Law enforcement in America has a long history of disproportionate incarceration rate of Black people and POC regarding cannabis crimes. Funding the police through legal cannabis sales reinforces systemic racism in Oregon and neglects the roots of the industry which still need reparations. Oregon state legislators should support the proposal demanding the end of the use of cannabis taxes to fund the state police.

We as representatives of the cannabis industry believe it is long overdue that the cannabis community holds themselves and others accountable for the industry we create. As a team, we will not continue to comply as we watch tax dollars flow into our own store and around the state, knowing that 15% is allocated to a police force with a history of systemic racism and brutality. We believe defunding the police is a primary means by which we can support the Black community in our area and fight for justice statewide.
