Protect Historic Cemeteries

Protect Historic Cemeteries
The Issue
Historic Cemeteries are a cultural resource. They evidence our heritage, the individuals, and families with their role in community, city, state, nation, ethnic group or tribe comprising our evolving society.
They are emotional space for grieving, acceptance and celebration. They are a cultural expression of fundamental belief systems. They are sacred, deserving respectful, reflective conduct.
There are those who would put thoroughfares through cemeteries and use the space for recreation. Saving a few steps for the few should not be more important for preserving the sanctity and safety of sacred, hallowed ground for the many. Local parks are better suited for recreation.
The ground within which those who preceded us lay is hallowed. To preserve the ambience of humility, appreciation and honor, it is important to control the use of the area.
Please sign in your support of prohibiting thoroughfares and paths through Historic Cemeteries.
