Grant a commutation of Joshua Clayton's sentence

Grant a commutation of Joshua Clayton's sentence
The Issue
In September of 2008 Josh Clayton got into a abusive relationship. His girlfriend would physically and verbally assult him. She would go into jealous rages if he tried to talk to or leave with friend or family members. Once when his brother tried to intervene she chased him with a knife. When Josh would try to leave she would hide his keys and wallet to keep him home. She would tell him she would make him pay if he left her. After 3 years he finally ended the relationship his abuser then bombarded him with calls and text messages trying to get him to take her back. After several months Josh moved on and found a new relationship. When pictures were posted facebook of Josh with his new girlfriend his abuser then retaliated and filed charges against him saying he was the abusive one despite all the witnesses to her abusive behavior. Since he witnesses were not going to be allowed to testify Josh on advice from his lawyer pleaded no contest to the abuse charges and was sentenced to 4 years of which he has already served 2 years. Josh should not have to spend 4 years of his life behind bars for leaving an abusive relationship. His family needs him home. It takes courage to walk away fom an abusive relationship whether you are a woman or a man. The victim should not be punisshed for leaving the abuser.
