Orange PCYC: Please reinstate Molong discos

The Molong discos gave the young people of Molong and surrounding areas a safe, supervised outlet and entertainment venue to meet their friends, have fun & relax. The discos in Molong were more successful than the ones in Orange, since they were more important and valued by the Molong community. With the population continuing to expand and more and more young people coming to Molong, the need for safe hang out spaces is needed more than before! Molong Central School has held one disco for the secondary students in 5 years. Word from the people and parents of the young people who went there, is that it was a huge success!

However, what happens to the many students who do not attend Molong Central? Those who attend Orange schools, those not able to go to school? Help bring the young community of Molong and surrounding villages together again!

The PCYC Blue light discos helped to facilitate a respectful relationship between the young people of Molong and the police.

"Blue Light aims to assist the police to rectify the imbalance of pro-active and re-active policing where young people are concerned. It does this by providing young people with positive lifestyle alternatives and strategies to avoid becoming an offender or victim of crime.
Blue Light promotes the police as offering an integrated pro-active youth service which takes a holistic approach to helping young people" (PCYC NSW, 2012).

Without safe, engaging activities and opportunities for young people, many find other things to do, many may not be safe or desirable!

Please reconsider bringing these discos back to the Molong community.
