I ask that you PLEASE sign this petition directed to Todd Spitzer - the district attorney in Orange County California. DA Todd Spitzer needs to charge Briana Renee Welch for falsifying a police report and using the police to gain an upper hand in a long and drawn out custody battle. 

Sometime in the month of May before our hearing was scheduled to take place, she reported a car she gave to me as stolen. She has written on numerous court documents and on other legal documents that the car was mine, and my responsibility alone. We were awaiting the title to be placed in my name. Unfortunately instead of resolving this through the courts, she attempted to use the Tustin Police Department in a karen-esque move to recover her property after I had spent thousands in repair of the vehicle. In my opinion she did this so that I would be arrested and charged with grand theft auto. She would then have a much easier time gaining full custody of our two children. This story is not about me, or our issues, it is about a person using the police to attack someone for personal gain.

On May 24th I was stopped and detained in Mission Viejo, California. I had a total of 8 police officers pointing their guns at my head ready to shoot me if I made a wrong move. After explaining the situation, and having my lawyer contact the arresting officer, they released me as they were unable to confirm if this was a civil or criminal issue. The officer stated when he contacted her, she asked “did you arrest him?!”  I knew then that I needed to file a police report against her so this would never happen to anyone else again.

I filed the report the next day. After explaining what happened to the reporting officer he forwarded the report to detectives.I spoke with the detective and he told me they would not arrest her because of Covid-19 procedures. He also stated that my case would likely not be taken up by the DA, because the Orange County D.A. “Was currently releasing more dangerous criminals.”

I disagreed, I think someone who lies to the police, and misleads them is a very dangerous criminal. This behavior will only lead to someones injury or even death. A fault NOT of the police, but of the person filing false police reports, and claiming violence. People who call the police to use them as their own personal attack dogs are the lowest of the low. It is a waste of police resources and time when they could be doing much more important things. As I laid on the ground, guns pointed at me, I feared I would be the next person shot and killed by police.

Briana Renee Welch needs to be held accountable. Whether that results in jail time, a fine, or something being placed on her record that will dissuade her and others from using the police to scare, intimidate, or blackmail people. This is a major issue in America, and it needs to be addressed. She is a serious threat and if left unchecked she will continue to use the police as a way to gain leverage in not only our situation, but in other situations she might encounter. She is a threat to the community.
