Robert Zlatkiss purchased land on Walker’s Pond Road, as well as the 40 acres of woods and wetlands to the west of Walker’s Pond which ends at Lake Roberts. He wants to rezone the land and annex to City of Winter Garden to use their utilities so that he can build a subdivision of houses, 1/3 acre average lot size. Several of those houses would be lakefront houses on Lake Roberts. He is threatening to somehow build a road from Stoneybrook Parkway through the wetlands to reach the woods, as he might not have access through Walker’s Pond Road itself.

Our community is growing quickly and with more and more land being developed for residential and commercial use, the beautiful trees and wild areas for our community’s wildlife are quickly disappearing. We wish to preserve the peaceful, small town "character" of our community. Adding more houses and people to this area will also overcrowd the roads and schools, create more noise and pollution, decrease our home values, and increase burden on infrastructure. The overcrowding is not consistent with the lifestyle we chose when we moved to this community. We would like to encourage responsible, sustainable development which includes plenty of natural wildlife preserve land.

We, the citizens of West Orange County, petition that the land along Walker’s Pond Road remain zoned as a Rural Settlement. We also request that the woods and wetlands which border Lake Roberts, be maintained as a natural preserve for the birds, gopher tortoises, and other wildlife. We strongly oppose the re-zoning and development of the land into a subdivision and desire to maintain the green space that it provides.
