Allow BTS light sticks in Oracle Arena

The Issue

In a little less than a month, the South Korean group BTS will be having a concert in the Oakland Oracle Arena. Fans have been anticipating this concert and tour since it was announced, but have been devastated to discover that the Oracle Arena has stated that there will be NO light sticks allowed in the venue.

Although we recognize that this decision may be largely influenced by security measures, we are urging Oracle Arena to reconsider. Light sticks are an essential part of Kpop concerts, and it is no exaggeration to say that the entire atmosphere of the concert would be altered if light sticks are banned. They are not dangerous; they are simply pieces of plastic that light up, allowing fans to show their support for the performing artists and for the artists to feel "at home". By banning light sticks, not only would the thousands of fans looking forward to this concert be immensely disappointed, but also BTS and BigHit Entertainment. Light sticks have been allowed at multiple previous BTS concerts and venues, including the AMAs, BBMAs, and venues of similar capacity as Oracle Arena, so there should be no reason why they are not allowed at Oracle Arena.

As fans, we are more than happy to assist security in any way, such as removing batteries during entry, if it means that light sticks can be used during the concert.

Oracle Arena, please reconsider your stance on light sticks and allow them during BTS's concert. Please sign this petition and join us in ensuring an amazing concert experience at the Oracle Arena!
