Opposition to Canyon Road water line project

Opposition to Canyon Road water line project
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urge the Logan City Council to reconsider the proposed water line and sidewalk project on Canyon Road, which threatens the Island neighborhood’s historic Ash trees, some of which are at least 100 years old.
These trees are vital to our community's character and the unique identity of the Island. Their removal would significantly diminish our neighborhood’s aesthetic and cultural value.
The proposed sidewalk is unnecessary, as there is already a functional and underutilized sidewalk on the other side of the road which serves hundreds more homes than the new option would.
The financial, environmental, and residential costs and impacts of completing this project on Canyon Road far outweigh any limited benefits.
Alternatives exist that would allow the project to continue in locations that would not disturb these historic trees. This proposal isn't about halting progress but modifying it to respect and uphold our community's distinctive appeal.
We seek your support in urging the city council to relocate their water line and sidewalk project, thereby safeguarding our historic trees and preserving the character of ‘the Island.’
