We, the undersigned residents of Middlebury, urge Middlebury's elected and appointed officials and members of the Town's Boards and Commissions to join us in opposing the proposed rental apartment complex at 124 Kelly Road and 1535 Straits Turnpike. Our opposition stems from the following concerns, among others:

• Additional traffic that would push Middlebury's already congested roadways past the breaking point
• 200 rental units located directly adjacent to Memorial Middle School
• Destruction of the natural environment and elimination of open space
• Increased taxes to fund the educational and other Town services required by the new development
• Negative impact on Middlebury property values
• Precedent that this project would set for future development of this type in Middlebury
• Required Zone Text Change to create a "Planned Rental Housing Development Overlay District" and related Zone Map Change
• General rapid and unchecked growth of the Town
