Opposing Linn Mar policy 504.13 & 504.13-R

Opposing Linn Mar policy 504.13 & 504.13-R
Why this petition matters
On April 11, 2022, Linn Mar School Board voted 5-2 (Barry Buchholz and Matt Rollinger opposed) for the first reading of the new policy 504.13 and 504.13-R.
This policy allows students in grades 7+ to use locker rooms & bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity.
This policy also allows student biological male & female students to room together on overnight trips if one identifies as transgender/non-binary.
This policy allows students to have a temporary student file, with a "Gender Support Plan", implemented by student & staff members/counselors and absolutely no communication with the parent/guardian. It gives the student the authority to NOT include their parents/guardian in any of this communication.
The board failed to survey the district for a general consensus of ALL members of the district; but instead only consulted with the Spectrum group to ensure the language was sensitive to their needs. From feedback at the 4/11/22 school board meeting, it was clear a lot of families oppose this; however, majority of the school board still voted in the first reading.
On the April 25 board meeting, the school board is voting on this to be implemented into policy. Please sign this petition so it can be presented to the board showing how many people oppose this policy.
We all need to fight together, to protect ALL students, ensuring ALL students are comfortable and safe at school. Come to the meeting APRIL 25, 2022 AT 5 PM AT THE LRC. The families of Linn Mar NEED your voice!
