Thanks so much to all the people who have made contributions to increase the reach of the petition!

Can you imagine the outrage if a delegate proposed to shut down and destroy the livelihood of every home-based baker in Virginia because some people in their neighborhood didn't like it, or because they were asked to by their local Board of County Supervisors in response to not being able to capriciously deny a legally permissible business after approving another applicant the same night?

I know a lot of people have the attitude that with Governor Youngkin in office there is a backstop, and the passage of any firearms related legislation is unlikely. The unfortunate reality though it that just today four Republican delegates crossed the aisle to support proposed firearms bills. If this happens with HB 585, the appearance of "bipartisanship" will make it more difficult to convince Governor Youngkin to veto this proposed legislation if it passes the General Assembly.

Signing the petition was a great start, but we must also reach out to our elected state officials and to Governor Youngkin to let them know that HB 585 is baseless and is an unacceptable attack on safe and lawfully permissible small businesses across Virginia.

You can e-mail Governor Youngkin at glenn.youngkin@governor.virginia.gov and you can search for your local delegates at https://virginiageneralassembly.gov/house/members/members.php.
