Dear Friends, Parents of Vancouver,
In June, BC Housing had submitted a Development Permit Application for the supportive housing project located on Arbutus Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. At that time, many of you submitted comments through the City of Vancouver website. We thank you for your engagement.
IMPORTANT
The City has NOW chosen to refer the Application to a Development Permit Board Hearing on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 9:30 am. City Staff has issued a Final Report which we encourage you to review here. You may review the agenda for the hearing here.
We invite and encourage you to participate in the hearing by doing the following:
1. Speak at the Hearing
Speakers must attend the meeting in person at City Hall. Proxies and online speakers are not permitted.
Speakers must register before the start of the hearing on August 21 by emailing: dpb@vancouver.ca the following information:
- Your name
- Identify subject as: “2086-2098 W 7th Ave and 2091 W 8th Ave(DP-2022-00500)
- Indicate your request to be placed on the speakers list. Speakers have a 3 minute time limit. The content of your comments may be similar to your written submissions made in late June/early July. Speakers will be called in the order of the list. If the speaker is not present when first called but shows up before the list is finished, they can still speak once the chair has gone through the complete list and calls them for a second time. For complete speaking rules, please refer to the “Speakers Procedures” tab here.
2. Write to the Development Permit Board
Email your comments to dpb.info@vancouver.ca before August 18, 2023. You can simply resubmit the comments you sent previously in late June/early July.
3. Watch the Hearing
A WebEx link and phone (audio only) options are available here.
We have and continue to state our concerns with the proposed development in the rezoning and development permit process. These concerns were not addressed. We encourage you to do the same!
If you would like more information or assistance please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or to the Kitsilano Coalition here.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and engagement,
Your neighbours and friends caring for the life of children and families and the most vulnerable in our city.
