Hello,
We have good news to share from the City of Torrance.
Summary:
The City of Torrance has released an independent appraisal valuing the Extended Stay America Hotel at 3525 Torrance Blvd—proposed for the Homekey+ project—at approximately $10.2 million, significantly lower than the $30 million offer reportedly made by the Weingart Center. The appraisal, conducted by Newmark Valuation & Advisory, raises serious concerns about fiscal accountability and the use of taxpayer funds. In response, the City is urging greater scrutiny of the project and has shared the findings with the State’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, reaffirming its commitment to transparent, responsible, and community-aligned solutions to homelessness.
