Oppose the zoning change from residential to industrial
The Issue
Change from Zone from R-40 (Single family residential) zone to IP-3 (Industrial Park) zone Map 66, Lot 261 A-1 & 261 A-2.
Our community in Bristol is facing challenges that threaten to disrupt the our daily lives. A proposal has been put forth to change the zoning of our quiet neighborhood from residential to industrial, paving the way for the construction of a large factory right in our backyard.
Allowing this change would not only disrupt the peace we have built but could also lead to numerous adverse effects such as increased pollution, water damage, noise, and road and train traffic congestion. The health of our elderly community, our children, families, the school, the health facility and the wild life we share the environment with are at risk of being overshadowed by industrial machinery and operations.
Moreover, the introduction of a factory brings potential health risks. Industrial facilities are known for emitting pollutants which contribute to respiratory ailments and other health issues. Our community deserves better than to have our air quality degraded, our streets more congested, and our homes less safe.
Our residents are currently impacted by construction of another nearby industrial development. We are on wetlands and the water has increased travel into community members homes. Other community members have disability needs, requesting support such as a seeing eye dog has been made exponentially difficult because of the increase of traffic supporting the industrial facilities.
The wildlife in our area has also experienced a noticeable impact.
This proposed industrial site will also have a significant impact on our property values. The peace and tranquility that once made our community attractive could be diminished, leading to a decline in property values that affects each and every homeowner.
Statistics from other similar zoning changes have shown that local economies do not generally benefit from such transitions; in fact, they can suffer as the immediate benefits are often outweighed by the long-term consequences of urban blight and diminished community cohesion.
There are better solutions for economic development that do not compromise our residential areas. We urge city planners and decision-makers to consider alternative locations for industrial development that will not encroach on residential zones. Development should be sensible, sensitive, and sustainable.
We must act to protect our community from this industrial encroachment. Join us in opposing this zoning change and help us ensure that our neighborhood remains a place where families live and thrive. Together, we can preserve the integrity and character of our residential area.
Please sign this petition to show your opposition to this proposed zoning change and factory development. Our community's future depends on it.
