The night of the zoning meeting that approved the Wittengale housing plan, our town of Oakdale was grappling with a devastating flood. We were unable to attend and voice our opposition because we were too busy dealing with the consequences of runoff from neighboring communities. Unfairly taking advantage of this situation, North Fayette approved this plan without considering its impact on us.

Oakdale has suffered enough from flooding. This new housing project will only increase water runoff into our community, exacerbating an already serious problem. It's not just about property damage; it's about preserving our homes and way of life.

The National Flood Insurance Program reports that just one inch of flooding can cause up to $25,000 in damage (FEMA). With additional runoff from the proposed development, we're looking at potential damages far exceeding this amount.

We cannot stand by as decisions are made that threaten our community further. We urge North Fayette to reconsider their approval and take into account the real-life implications for Oakdale residents before moving forward with any development plans on Wittengale.
