Community Reminder: Public Hearing – Tuesday, May 13th, 5–8 PM at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, Main Hall (25690 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80016)
Join us for a public hearing hosted by the Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) to comment on two proposed well pads—Harvard/Yale and Wetterhorn/Handies—located at the eastern edge of our community in the Lowry
Ranch CAP. Civitas has been allowed to combined these into a single application. Fewer hearings makes the application process easier for this operator.
What’s at stake?
Though a few miles away, these well pads—part of a broader 8-pad project will have serious cumulative impacts on our air quality and health.
Why should you attend or submit a comment?
Below are a few talking points:
Air Quality Threats: Concurrent operations of multiple well pads release significant emissions, worsening already poor air quality. Arapahoe County currently holds an “F” rating for ozone pollution from the American Lung Association.
Traffic & Emissions from Fracking Water: Millions of gallons of fracked water will be hauled offsite, requiring thousands of truck trips—increasing already dangerous ozone levels.
Multiple well pads operating in overlapping phases will create dangerous cumulative impacts—putting the health of our community and local wildlife at serious risk.
How to Participate:
Simply showing up for a period of time between 5p and 8p to listen to others comment shows community support and we believe it is our right to have a voice in decisions being made that our affect our families.
Speak at the hearing. Registration to speak is welcome but you can sign up to speak that evening if you choose.
