**Petition to Oppose the Revocation of Humanitarian Parolee Status for Ukrainians in the US**

To the United States Government,

We, the undersigned, urge you to reconsider the proposed action to revoke the humanitarian parolee status of Ukrainians who were approved as part of USCIS’s Uniting for Ukraine Program. This decision would have devastating consequences for the individuals and families who have sought refuge in our country, as well as for the American citizens who have supported them.

The lives of these people should not be lumped in with how we think about the war or even support for Ukraine. While obviously related to Ukraine and a side effect of the war, this is a separate issue and should be looked at differently.

Many American families, including ours, have opened their homes and hearts to support Ukrainian families. These individuals have shown immense courage by leaving everything they own and know behind for a better life and safety. They have become productive, tax-paying members of our community and, more importantly, members of our families. We celebrate holidays, birthdays, and family events in general together.

This potential policy change is ignorant of the efforts and sacrifices made not only by the Ukrainian people involved but also by the American citizens who have loved and supported them in many ways. It would be cruel and inhumane to them—and less importantly, to us, the US citizens who have sacrificed as well for what should be looked at as American success stories.

We call on the US Government to recognize the sacrifices and positive impact these Ukrainian individuals and families have had on our communities, as well as the efforts and sacrifices of countless US citizens—financial and otherwise—to shelter and support them. We urge you to uphold their humanitarian parolee status. We stand together in support of our Ukrainian friends, who have become new family members to many of us, and we urge you to do the same.

Sincerely,

Patrick T. Keller
