The rush to get rid of Honors classes in the Troy  School District is a misguided attempt at equity and it does more harm than good for our children. High achieving students need honors classes that will challenge them. Which a regular class setting is not able to do.  Also children with learning disabilities will be negatively impacted in many ways as they struggle to keep up with high performing peers. Mental health issues will increase and teachers will have more work as they would need to adjust teaching styles and methods.
