No QUARRY RV Village

The Issue

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the fight to preserve and protect the Old Quarry from an RV Village on this Niagara Escarpment "hidden gem" in Door County,Wisconsin continues. Even though the Door County Resource Planning Committee, Sevastopol Plan Commission and Sevastopol Town Board said, "No," Margaret Dreutzer (owner), Tom Goelz and Mike Parent (developers) filed an appeal at the last minute to the Door County Board of Adjustment.

Quarry Bluff LLC is under contract to purchase the Quarry property with the intent of creating a high-density sub-division and campground. This is the wrong project in the wrong place and jeopardizes the natural harmony and recreational opportunity of Bay Shore Drive and adjacent Pinney Park. The Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application proposes construction that does not respect the letter and spirit of the Door County Zoning Ordinance.  Help us defeat this CUP for the FOURTH TIME! Add your name to the thousands of petition signers and share it.

The Bay Shore Property Owners Association (BSPOA) and Old Quarry Neighborhood Action Group (QNAG) will continue to work to protect the natural beauty of Door County and support projects that positively impact the public health, public safety, and the general welfare of the county. Thank you to the hundreds of individuals who are spending time, talent and treasure fighting the Conditional Use Permit (CUP).  Once the CUP is defeated, let's work together to protect the environmental, educational and historical treasures of this "hidden gem" of the Niagara Escarpment.

If the CUP denial is overturned, the massive blasting and crushing required will significantly disrupt the karst surface causing environmental hazards, potential ground water contamination and risk to the waters of Green Bay. The former Leathem and Smith Quarry is not the right place for the density and scale of 117 campsites and short-term housing.  This project will decrease property values, pose safety hazards to vehicles and pedestrians and Is not in harmony with the surrounding neighborhoods.

Join the thousands who oppose the project at the Old Quarry! Check us out at No Quarry RV village on Facebook. Share and sign this petition. Contact or send a message to the decision-makers to preserve the quarry and  consider other ideas besides a sub-division and RV campground.
