Oppose the Proposed Sports Field Lighting in Garcia Park, Rancho Cucamonga, CA
The Issue
Living in the quiet South Etiwanda neighborhood, Garcia Park is more than just a location; it's the heart of our community. It's the place where families come together to walk, play, picnic, and enjoy the peaceful environment that defines our neighborhood. This park was built for us, the local residents, not for outside entities.
However, the new proposal to install sports lighting in Garcia Park threatens to disrupt this tranquility. These lights are intended to serve rented leagues rather than the residents who frequent the park daily. With this project, we are facing the inevitability of more noise, increased traffic, and interruptions to the serenity we currently cherish. Moreover, the funds for this lighting project are drawn from LMD 9, which should be used to enhance our quality of life, not diminish it with facilities that primarily serve external groups.
Lighting the park for sports leagues that operate beyond the typical visiting hours undermines the purpose of Garcia Park as a community oasis. It will intrude upon the calm that residents and visitors have enjoyed for years. This significant change does not reflect the needs or desires of those who live here, and it diverts funds meant for neighborhood benefits.
The peaceful atmosphere of Garcia Park must be preserved for the local community's well-being. The neighborhood’s character should remain intact, free from the disturbances that night games and increased park traffic would bring. It's crucial that we protect the essence of our beloved neighborhood park, a place that was explicitly designed to serve its residents.
Join us in opposing this lighting project that stands to alter the fabric of our community. Please sign this petition to protect the heart of South Etiwanda and prevent unnecessary disruptions. Together, we can preserve Garcia Park for generations to come.
