Petition to Oppose the Proposed School Location in Mapleton, Utah
Protect Our Neighborhoods, Reduce Traffic Congestion, and Preserve Residential Safety

We, the undersigned residents and concerned community members, strongly oppose the proposed location of this new school in our Mapleton neighborhood.

Our primary concern is the significant increase in traffic congestion and the impact this development would have on the safety, accessibility, and quality of life in our residential community.

There are already two schools located less than half a mile from this proposed site, both along the same road. Our neighborhood currently experiences substantial traffic congestion during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup times. Adding a third school in such close proximity would only compound an already challenging situation.

Our concerns include:

Increased Traffic Congestion: Three schools concentrated along the same road would create additional traffic during peak hours, making it increasingly difficult for residents to enter and exit their neighborhoods.

Neighborhood Safety: Increased vehicle traffic raises concerns for children walking or biking, pedestrians, and families living along these residential streets.

Impact on Quality of Life: Our quiet residential neighborhood should not be overwhelmed by the traffic and activity associated with three schools located so closely together.

Lack of Appropriate Infrastructure: Existing traffic conditions already demonstrate the challenges of accommodating two schools. Adding a third raises serious questions about whether the surrounding roads and intersections can safely and efficiently handle the additional demand.

A More Suitable Alternative: We believe the school's originally proposed location in Mapleton would be a far more appropriate option and deserves serious reconsideration before moving forward with the current site.

We are not opposed to education or the benefits a school brings to our community. We are opposed to placing a third school in an area already heavily impacted by school-related traffic.

We respectfully urge Mapleton City officials, planning commissioners, and those involved in this decision to reconsider the proposed location, thoroughly evaluate the cumulative traffic impacts of all three schools, and give serious consideration to the school's original proposed site.

Our request is simple: Choose a location that supports the school's needs without unnecessarily compromising the safety, accessibility, and quality of life of surrounding neighborhoods.

By signing this petition, we ask decision-makers to reject the currently proposed location and pursue a more suitable alternative.
