Some good news ! Support from one Local Councillor

Dear all

I have some good news to share via support from Local Councillor Rachael Batten (Fianna Fail), see her reply below:

 Hi Eimear

I agree with a number of your aspects and in relation to the route on Gracefield Road, I do not see how this adds substantial value to the area as whole.

The notion that build it and people will use it has been proven not to be the case in Griffith Avenue.

I will be conveying my views to the planners that are too often bias to a certain agenda of late thus I feel your frustration.

Regards
Racheal

This is a good start, I have not heard back to date from other Local Councillors but I realise many are on holidays etc.

I also got a response from Richard Bruton, not too favourable

Hi Eimear,

Thanks for your further email. I understand that the next step will be for the Council officials to report back to the Area Committee of the City Council. This will describe the issues raised and what can be done to accommodate them. This will give local councillors a chance to consider the value of the scheme as proposed and the various issues raised.

Your best step would be to discuss with local councillors what changes can be made. The Council have a strategy to develop a cycling network, so that may mean that there should be a concentration on modification to the scheme rather than rejecting it entirely.

Kind regards,

Richard.

I will keep you updated or feel free to email me - eimearfet@gmail.com, 087 4185961

Also if you have not already done so, no harm to send the emails (as per my last post / email) to the local councillors so they have sight on the numbers in opposition and we are vocal about this.
