Dear all

Thanks to those who could attend the meeting last Thursday. At the meeting it was suggested that our next course of action should be that we individually  email our local councillors  to seek their support and request that they  adequately represent us and our opposition to this Active Travel Plan (Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue). Timing is of essence, so please try to mail in the next few days. The DCC have advised they will post the findings of the consultation on their website when the data is collated but its not clear what the next step is after this.

Most of us would be represented by the North Central Area Councilors - see below. Or find your local councillor here

Suggested wording -

Dear xxx

I am writing as your local community member to inform you of my opposition to the proposed Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue Active Travel Plan. I am writing to advise that I am against the proposed road layouts and redesign which will cause unnecessary traffic congestion. I also have other concerns, as a key stakeholder and resident, that have not been adequately answered by Dublin City Council at their Information Session hosted by them on the 25th July.

Mainly  -  Environmental Impact Assessment on existing trees in the area which may be affected or cut down for cycle lanes.  Traffic data study on the impact of the proposed road re- layouts especially the removal of key right hand pocket turns.  A cost vs benefit analysis that there are sufficient cyclists to warrant the taxpayer funding of this scheme. A lack of parking outside residents houses, some home owners do not have converted driveways and need on street parking.  ****add in your own as required*****

It is imperative that I need to raise my concerns with you and you as my local councillor represent me. This is a key item in my decision to elect a councillor to serve in the next term of office. The DCC have advised that they liase with a council representative. Please advise what course of action you consider to take next.

Kind regards

xxxxx
