Oppose the Potential Designation of the NIETC for Curry County, New Mexico
Oppose the Potential Designation of the NIETC for Curry County, New Mexico
The Issue
I am a local resident of Curry County, New Mexico. Like me, many of us are deeply concerned about the potential designation of the Southwestern Grid Connection National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) in our county. It threatens to disrupt our daily life, possibly causing harm to historical sites, businesses, and personal properties, including mine.
The designation poses too significant a risk to our county's unique cultural history and our local economy. Should the NIETC proceed, it would potentially degradation of historical sites that serve as a testament to our vibrant past and unique identity. Similarly, the businesses that form the backbone of our local economy might be adversely affected. The ancillary jobs and revenue that these businesses provide would be at risk. Along with these, the tranquility and sanctity of our personal properties would be violated.
According to data provided by the U.S. Department of Energy, transmission corridors might pose a danger to surrounding environments and disrupt local communities. We cannot allow this to happen to our home, Curry County.
Please join this cause, voice your concern, and object the NIETC designation for Curry County. Our shared history, economy, and peaceful living situations hang in the balance. Sign the petition now. Together we stand, divided we fall. Let us unite in our stand against the designation of the NIETC in Curry County, New Mexico.
