Pigeons were domesticated by human beings over 10,000 years ago (1). They were brought over to North America 400 years ago by humans (2). Contrary to popular belief, it is rare to get diseases from pigeons (3). Pigeons even served in World War 1 and World War 2, saving the lives of many allied soldiers in Canada, The United Kingdom, and the USA (4,5,6,7). They deserve our respect, not hate. The city of Toronto has made it illegal to feed pigeons in Toronto (8). This is inhumane, as this means the pigeons will starve to death. Remember, these are birds WE domesticated and WE brought to North America in the first place. After all they have done for us, they do not deserve this cruel treatment. Since we have domesticated them, they now rely on us for survival. Please sign this petition to reverse this unjust law so residents of Toronto can feed pigeons again. Thank you!
