I am a resident of Camden and like my fellow residents, I value the freedom of movement in our locality. The proposed bus gate in our area threatens this very value, severely limiting our ability to navigate through our own neighborhood with ease. The impact of this proposal will have a knock on affect to the local area, pushing small narrow roads that are not equipt for heavy traffic to be busier. Acesss to schools, dr surgeries and hospital routes are affected in both directions. Local authorities suggest that the new bus gate will streamline public transportation. However, the constricted access for other vehicles could create an imbalance, leaning too far in favor of one form of transport. According to Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, a similar implementation in another city led to a significant inconvenience for local residents (source: Low Traffic Neighbourhoods Review). Our concern is not against bus lanes or public transportation, but against the proposed development that disregards our daily commuting necessities.
