Sir John Madejski has made an enormous and lasting contribution to Reading across sport, culture and education. He gave £3million to fund the setting up of the John Madejski Academy in one of the poorest wards increasing. He believes it as one of the best things he has ever done.

The school has had its ups and downs and has now been taken over by the Greenshaw Learning Trust. It has, with very little consultation, decided to remove the Madejski name from the school entirely. Frankly it has been very disappointing the way it has been handled.

This is both expensive and unnecessary and will put the school at odds with the local community. It is important that the Greenshaw  Learning Trust reconsiders removing entirely the Madejski name and consults widely with the local community.
