The Issue

I live on Maysville road and travel on Stellhorn road all the time, and I am deeply concerned about the proposed Casey's gas station development at the intersection of Stellhorn and Maysville in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With Stellhorn being a single-lane road already burdened by congestion, the addition of a large gas station will only exacerbate the traffic problems. Once you pass the traffic signal, vehicles exiting the gas station will likely create additional bottlenecks on both sides of the road.

The introduction of a Casey's gas station in this particular location poses numerous risks and concerns for our community. Firstly, the property values of the charming homes nearby may decrease significantly. Homeowners have invested their hard-earned money in these houses, hoping to enjoy a peaceful neighborhood environment.

Secondly, increased traffic and congestion at the intersection of Stellhorn and Maysville could lead to higher accident rates, putting both drivers and pedestrians at risk. This intersection is already a high-traffic area, and the influx of vehicles from the gas station could make it much more dangerous.

Moreover, gas stations can sometimes attract unwanted activities such as loitering and even crime, which could compromise the safety and tranquility of our neighborhood. This is not the kind of environment we want to foster for our families.

Furthermore, there are no concrete plans shared with the community regarding the rest of the parcel where the gas station is supposed to be erected. If future developments occur, they could bring additional challenges and frustrations to the residents of Fort Wayne.

I urge you to sign this petition to voice our collective concerns and ask the city planners to reconsider this decision. The community is not against development, but it requires thoughtful planning to ensure safety, quality of life, and the preservation of property values in our beloved neighborhood. Your signature can make a difference and help protect our community from the negative impacts of this impending development. Please join us and stand up for a safer, more secure Fort Wayne.
