The Issue

As a resident of the Kodak community, I am deeply concerned about the proposed Exit 408 road project and its potential ramifications for our neighborhood. This project, planned by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and our local officials aims to create a new exit that, although intended to improve accessibility, might bring more harm than good to our close-knit community.

Our peaceful area, known for its scenic beauty and tight-knit residential atmosphere, faces a dramatic transformation if this project proceeds unchecked. Increased traffic will not only disrupt the tranquility we cherish but could also elevate safety risks for pedestrians and local wildlife. Noise pollution is another anticipated consequence that could undermine the quality of life we've come to enjoy here.

Evidence from similar projects in other regions shows that rapid infrastructure expansions can lead to unintended negative impacts, including devaluation of local property, heightened road accidents, and an uptick in crime rates. Moreover, the environmental footprint of such construction projects cannot be overlooked. The increased carbon emissions from the anticipated vehicle influx would further stress an already fragile ecosystem.

Sign this petition to urge TDOT and local authorities to take a step back, evaluate the potential impacts, and involve the community in a meaningful dialogue about the future of our area. Together, we can protect Kodak for generations to come.
