OPPOSE the APPROVAL of FortisBC Construction Yard in Valleycliffe

OPPOSE the APPROVAL of FortisBC Construction Yard in Valleycliffe
The Issue
At the DOS Public Hearing on September 25th 2024 council APPROVED the Temporary Use Permit (TUP) for the FortisBC’s Laydown / Construction Yard in Valleycliffe, Squamish directly adjacent to the residential area of Ravens Plateau.
The TUP is for 3 years with the option to renew if construction is delayed for a further 3 years
We are gathering community support to request that council "Reconsider the decision" and retract approval of the TUP or add restrictions and conditions to ensure the safety of the residents of Ravens Plateau and surrounding areas.
We have 2 weeks to appeal to Councillor Jenna Stoner and 1 month to appeal to Mayor Armand Hurford to reconsider this decision.... the clock is ticking and we need your help.
Current risks include:
- Forest clearance
- Storage of fuel
- Lack of fire and emergency evacuation plan for Ravens Plateau and Valleycliffe
- Car park for 300+ cars
- HUGE increase in traffic / Road Safety
- Public Safety for those who use the area and FSR
- Environmental impact
Please show your support and sign this petition to get the attention of the DOS and force them to reconsider this approval.
The community never had the opportunity to provide meaningful input on the laydown yard as new information was only presented to council and the public at the public hearing, and many questions remain unanswered.
