Hi all - I'm sharing some of the information from last night's meeting with the group.
Breaking news: This morning The Office of Health Strategy has sent another letter to Day Kimball requesting additional information (34 questions). Basically this means that the office sees the application for Covenant to acquire DKH as incomplete. DKH has 60 days to comply. You can keep up to date on the proceedings by visiting https://dphconwebportal.ct.gov/Report and searching for 32538. We also encourage you to write to the Office with your concerns.
Our petition as reached over 500 signatures in a week! Most of the signers are local. Sign if you haven't and share if you have: https://chng.it/5MY4x2G9
Our website has a lot of updates this week. There is a new section for getting more involved. SaveDKH.org
We have more press! Erica Phillips from the Daily Mirror(she was on our zoom call last night) wrote another story last week about our opposition. It got picked up by the Hartford Courant and the Norwich Bulletin. https://ctmirror.org/2022/08/18/ct-coalition-catholic-hospital-takeover-day-kimball-covenant-health/ We continue to have conversations with other media outlets as well.
We will be at the Brooklyn Fair this weekend at the local democrats's booth. Stop by and say hi.
Finally, we are still in the planing process for some local events. Stay tune.
If you have time Friday at 5:00 PM, join our local partners outside Windham Hospital working to reopen the birthing center.
Thanks to everyone of each step they are taking in this effort, big or small.
Jane
