As Rhodes College students, we are already grappling with increased tuition fees. A new, heartbreaking financial burden has been added to our struggles; a $400 parking fee. We've relied on the convenience of the college parking system for years, as the available spaces have always been limited. Introducing a fee, moreover one as steep as $400, for the first time in the College's history, is a significant additional cost for students.

Not only would this imposition affect every Rhodes College student financially, but it also capitalizes on the already limited parking spaces as well as the safety of parking on campus, putting undue pressure on us. There is virtually no safe place to park outside of campus as seen in the rise of car jacking and auto theft cases outside of campus. $400 is a huge expenditure for students already loaded with tuition fees and other educational costs.

We call upon the Rhodes College administrators to consider the undue financial stress this parking fee would impose on us, the students. Please rethink this decision and help us maintain our focus on our educational endeavors instead of worrying about parking fees. We encourage everyone who shares this concern to sign this petition. Your support may steer the decision of the administrators towards us students and the viability of our daily lives on campus. Thank you for your support
