Oppose Sterling Heights city council’s decision to build more housing on north Vandyke

Oppose Sterling Heights city council’s decision to build more housing on north Vandyke
The Issue
Many Sterling Heights residents have concerns about the city council’s decision to go ahead with building a second apartment complex at Van Dyke and Hall Road. These concerns were ignored and disregarded at the council meeting that was opened to the public in order to discuss whether the city should go ahead with the project.
One of the charming appeals of Sterling Heights has always been that it is a comfortable suburban community. Many residents have lived here their whole lives and have watched their family grow and also stay in this wonderful city. Currently the members of our city council are pushing to develop us into an urban and downtown area. They are trying to take away the appeal this city has had for many of their residents.
The area around Vandyke and Hall has already become a nightmare of traffic jams. From dawn till dusk a backup of traffic can be seen from the roundabout up to Hall road. Adding more housing to that area will bring in more residents and create more congestion on the roads and it is not what this city needs.
The residents have voiced their opposition to creating us into an urban development. As it stands we are seeing more and more crime in our parks, increased panhandling, homelessness and trash lining our streets, as well as increasing violent incidents of road rage. These things and more should be the primary concern of our city council not developing us into a city where these issues will only continue to become more prominent.
Please sign and let your voice be heard that we the citizens of Sterling Heights do not want more accommodation housing and that we want the city to take care of its hardworking, tax paying, and upset residents.
