The NSW Government is fast-tracking State Significant Developments (SSD) across the Northern Beaches and North Shore – including Warringah Mall, Ingleside, Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Mosman, and Cammeray.
These projects ignore local planning rules, override council controls, removing significant iconic trees and allow high-rise towers in areas meant to stay low-density.
What’s at stake?
• Indigo by Moran at Narrabeen – a seniors living complex with excessive height, minimal setbacks, and removal of significant trees, completely out of character for our coastal community.
• 1,500 apartments at Warringah Mall
• Large-scale mixed-use towers in Mona Vale
• Ingleside rezoning – despite a previous proposal being rejected over serious bushfire risks that have not changed.
As Better Planning for Northern Beaches warns:
“What’s happening in Narrabeen is not just a local issue. It’s emblematic of a much larger problem across NSW. Communities are being sidelined, consultation windows are shrinking, and oversized developments are being fast-tracked without proper scrutiny.”, Belinda Geros, Pittwater Life, Dec2025, Pg8,
Why should you care?
- Limited community consultation
- Increased Traffic, Inadequate infrastructure
- Permanent loss of our local character
The only way to force the NSW Government to listen is through the official Parliamentary petition. It’s the only mechanism that legally requires the Minister to respond and ensures community voices are heard.

Chris Minns said the Government were delivering, "the right development, in the right places, WITH THE RIGHT OUTCOMES FOR THE COMMUNITY."
